Installation with 13 minute audio piece, portable radio

This was the first of the series of audio pieces based upon interviews with architects - produced for an exhibition of audio art titled 'Barrage' that took place in a contemporary office building in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

An interview with architect Simon Templeton, recorded during a site visit to the building, was edited with music in the style of a radio documentary and replayed within the space as my contribution to the exhibition. The building had been a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award-winner when it had opened in 1991, but already by 1995, was beginning to show signs of lack of maintenance. The radio that replayed the piece was placed on the counter of an abandoned espresso bar in the building's central atrium area. The atrium had been designed as a communal area for the staff of the companies that leased space in the building, but was not being used and had fallen into a state of disrepair.
