Interview with Fred Fisher, 1998
Installation with 12 minute audio piece, stereo audio equipment, color photograph
An audio piece based on an interview with Fred Fisher, whose LA.-based practice were architects of the renovation of P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York. The interview was recorded during a site visit to the building on the eve of its reopening in October 1997; the recording was edited with music ('Lunatic Harness' by μ-ziq, 1997) in the style of a radio documentary, then played back in a darkened gallery space at P.S.1 as part of the exhibition 'Wish You Luck' in March 1998. The piece was replayed through floor-standing speakers mounted on wheels, the two speakers creating a metonymic form for the back-and-forth dialogue of the interview.
